Behind the Image #2 - Family Walk During COVID-19
In the second piece of my "Behind the Image" series, I was able to capture some life while still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
By and large, we have been instructed to stay inside if possible, at the very least maintain a 6 ft. distance between each other - otherwise referred to a Social Distancing.
This capture was somewhat accidental, as are many of my best shots. I was out walking and actually wanted to capture the trees, which had just bloomed. I had my 28-75mm lens wide open, and just started snapping shots. I was able to get some very good color shots, when this family walked in front of me. At first I was inclined to let them walk through and then I would continue with some further shots. but then I snapped a couple with the family as well - and they are truly my favorites in this grouping.
In my portfolio, you can see a couple of the other shots that just captured the trees and the road, however this shot actually brings life and personality to the shot. As it turns out, this is one of my favorite photos from my entire portfolio.
As is common again with me, during post-processing, I realized this was a great capture, and visualizing in various states, found that B&W really caught the mood and the emotion of the shot. It was a good moment, and I'm glad this family was out walking and bringing life to a somewhat stagnant world at this moment.
Things are starting to go back to "normal" now as governments are allowing business to open again and people to be out. Ironically, I feel that Social Distancing practices should be observed always - there are too many times, especially in the stores, that people are just standing entirely too close to me - I like my personal space, LOL.
